What’s your Birthstone?

My Jewellery Shop Online

Every girl wants to be born in April, you guessed it, April has diamond as her birthstone! Birthstones date back to biblical times. The first century Jewish historian Josephus saw a connection between the twelve stones in Aaron's breastplate, the twelve months of the year, and the twelve signs of the zodiac. 1912 birthstones were standardised, by the (American) National Association of Jewellers and agreed to officially adopt one list. In 1952 the Jewelry Industry Council of America updated the list by adding alexandrite to June and citrine to November. Of course not be left out Britain's National Association of Goldsmiths created their own standardized list of birthstones in 1937. Interesting 100’s of years later the changes are minimal.
